Carrier Clinic Will Host 7th Annual Walk of Hope September 16

(BELLE MEAD, NJ: August 1, 2017)  Carrier Clinic, a nonprofit mental health and addiction recovery facility located in Belle Mead, NJ, will host its 7th Annual Walk of Hope on Saturday, September 16, 9 a.m. – noon. The fundraising event will be held on the Carrier Clinic campus, located at 252 County Road 601 in Belle Mead, rain or shine.

The Walk of Hope includes a one-mile safe walk (that is wheel chair and stroller accessible) conveniently located on Carrier Clinic’s beautiful campus, as well as free food and beverages for all participants, games and prizes, contests, a ‘Doggie Oasis,’ face painting, a petting zoo, and a live broadcast by NJ101.5 FM.

“When this event first began seven years ago, a large part of our goal was to open Carrier Clinic’s campus so that the community could get a better understanding of the work Carrier Clinic was doing,” said Emily Hammer, Walk of Hope Committee Chair. “Now, seven years later, we can feel the impact of our work. Families return year over year, and they bring with them not only people new to the mission and willing to help, but they bring their stories; stories of who they walk for and support, as well as stories of their own journeys to wellness. I look forward to seeing old friends every year, and count the time I spend helping Carrier Clinic as some of the most valuable work I do. It's hard to believe that we’ve grown this event to host so many people, and that we’ve raised almost a quarter of a million dollars. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next seven years as we work to increase the awareness of the quality of care and healing that Carrier Clinic provides.”

“What started in 2011 with 100 people raising $11,000 has turned into over 550 people raising more than $60,000,” said Donna Zaleski, Director of Development, Public Relations and Marketing for Carrier Clinic. “This event not only raises money to support the patients, residents, and students who need Carrier Clinic, but it also allows us to remove the curtain so people can truly see what we’re talking about when we speak of mental illness and addictions. Our goal is to bring the stigma into light in a way that is uplifting and fun.”
