Lawrenceville, NJ – NAMI Mercer (an affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness), invites the community to participate in its third NAMIWalk on Saturday, May 22 to combat stigma and provide support to families affected by mental illness. This year’s event theme is “Changing minds…one step at a time.”
NAMI Mercer will host the 5K walk in beautiful and historic Washington Crossing State Park in Titusville, NJ. Check in begins at 9:00 a.m. and the walk begins at 10:00. There will be live music and a picnic at the conclusion of the walk.
Join thousands of concerned citizens in more than 80 communities around the nation who will walk in 2010 to raise awareness and to improve lives. Thanks to the community, NAMI Mercer surpassed its fundraising goals in 2007 and 2009, bringing in a total of $185,000. Since then, the Walk has been the organization’s largest source of income, subsidizing the costs of one third of its free education, support and advocacy programs. This year’s walk goal is to raise $100,000.
Now is the time to sign up, form teams, become a sponsor, or make a donation. You can register online at www.namimercer.org or call (609) 799-8994 for a mail-in registration form.
