Princeton Yoga Community Classes by Donation

Weekdays, Monday - Thursday 4:15 – 5:30 pm, By Donation

Our Community Classes are open to all students. Any donation from the heart is welcome. Come, enjoy, and spread the word! Our Community Classes provide an opportunity for everyone in the community to experience yoga. It is our hope to make yoga classes available to those who are out of work or in the military, and our local teachers and students. August donations go to Enable. All contributions are donated to a specific local charity selected each month or for our special needs programming.  February donations are dedicated to #Say My Name.  Princeton Yoga has collected over $26,000. since 2011 and proceeds were donated to organizations such as Montgomery Township EducationOne Simple Wish, Montgomery Friends of Open Space, The Rock Brook School, Stretch for the Cure Cancer Research, Montgomery First Aid Squad, Womanspace, March for Our Lives, Let's Imagine, Enable, Children's Home Society, Distributing Dignity, Montgomery Township Food Pantry, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Mercer County, Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve, The Anchor House, Habitat for Humanity, The Crisis Ministry, New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, Young Survivor Coalition; Tour de Pink. Foundation, Mill Hill Child Development Center, Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad, TASK, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Carrier Clinic, The Suppers Program. Whether you are curious about meditation as a way to deal with stress and calm your mind, or you are a long-time meditator who wants some fine tuning, we invite you to explore Insight Meditation, known in Asia as Vipasana. At the heart of Insight Meditation is the practice of mindfulness – a process that cultivates a clear, non-judgmental awareness of our thoughts, and actions. You will get the opportunity for periods of sitting and walking meditation and time for questions. Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction: Free Intro

8-week program: Mondays, April 20 – June 16  6:45 – 9:15 pm

Learn new strategies to release stresses and find a new sense of calm. Learn about this innovative and effective program, meet the program leader. Bring your questions. The session ends with a short meditation. NOTE: Participation in this introductory session is not required for participation in the program and is not part of the 8-week program.

Join this experienced team for this well researched and time proven life affirming, transformational program. Based on the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn, the program's structured educational approach offers mindfulness meditation and gentle yoga as the core of its program to guide people to take better care of themselves and to live healthier and more adaptive lives. People who have participated in MBSR have found help with a range of physiological and stress-related conditions including chronic pain, IBS, migraine headaches, high blood pressure, cancer, sleep disorders, anxiety and depression. Restorative Yoga with Live Music with Arielle Wortzel and Chris Idell

Sunday, February 16 (and every third Sunday of the month) $40/$30 prepaid.

In this workshop you will be guided through gentle movements to help release tension and deepen the connection between the mind, body, breath, heart and spirit. After some gentle movements, you will be invited into a series of restorative postures to help encourage a state of balance and within your whole being. Chakra Balancing with Lauren Nagy

Workshop for students and teachers alike! Chakras are subtle, energetic centers which govern specific physical, emotional, and psychological functions within the human being. Each of the main 7 Chakras are portals through which the elements of nature work in our bodies and connect us to the wider web of life. By bringing attention and balance to these chakras, we begin the process of profound, multidimensional healing. Each workshop will begin with lecture to dive deep into a specific chakra including philosophy, physiology, and Ayurvedic lifestyle and dietary recommendations to nourish this chakra. A deeply relaxing practice that incorporates restorative yoga postures and Yoga Nidra - conscious deep relaxation. Classes begin with gentle movement, preparing the body to settle into a place of stillness. Restorative postures are held for longer periods of time with the support of props (bolsters, blankets, blocks), allowing the muscles to relax deeply with no effort. This class is designed to release tension, soothe the nervous system, and leave you feeling well rested and renewed. Yoga Basics

This class is designed to introduce new students to the practice of yoga. Teachers will go over the building blocks of the asana practice: how to breathe, how to optimally align each pose, and how to relax. It is a nourishing practice with clear direction, so that students can grasp a deep understanding of asana. No experience necessary. This class is ideal for beginners that do not have major limitations. Yin Yoga

Sundays 6:00 pm, 12 classes for $159/24 classes/$288 drop-ins $17

A practice made up passive stretching held for long periods of time. It is a quiet but intense practice that targets the connective tissue. It invites you to slow down and create space for stillness while nourishing the joints, ligaments, tendons and fascia. Many of the poses are seated, supine or prone. There is a focus on the breath, and being present in the moment. This class is open to all levels; however, it is not necessarily gentle. Some of the poses can be intense and are held for a long period of time. Modifications are offered.  A perfect complement for vinyasa flow and other challenging practices.
